CONTOUR 2011 TELT AF
De 5 de Biënnale voor Bewegend Beeld start over precies 1 jaar en loopt van zaterdag 27 augustus 2011 tot en met zondag 30 oktober 2011. Het aftellen kan nu beginnen.
Contour 2011 brengt opnieuw een spannende mix van films, video’s en installaties van nationale en internationale namen op markante plekken in de Mechelse binnenstad.

‘Sound and Vision: Beyond Reason’: klinkt de titel van Contour 2011 je
bekend in de oren? Dat is mogelijk. De curator Anthony Kiendl
(CAN) werd geïnspireerd door het nummer ‘Sound and Vision’ van David Bowie.
Onder deze titel onderzoekt Kiendl de verbanden tussen geluid, beeld en sociale veranderingen. Daarbij speelt populaire muziek een grote rol.
Benieuwd wat Bowie te maken heeft met Peaches, populaire muziek met maatschappelijke (r)evoluties, architectuur met het menselijke lichaam en bewegend beeld met een fysieke ervaring die blijft nazinderen? Ontdek het tijdens Contour 2011!
CONTOUR 2011 KRIJGT VORM
De curator heeft niet stilgezeten. In de binnenstad van Mechelen stootte Kiendl op enkele locaties die tot de verbeelding spreken. Het verrassende Contourparcours bevat onder andere een historische kapel, een voormalig klooster en een oude cinemazaal.
Verder selecteerde Kiendl al een aantal beroemde artiesten uit binnen- en buitenland. Deze kunstenaars zullen een creatie maken rond het thema van Contour 2011. De namen blijven voorlopig nog top secret…

THE CONTOUR 2011 COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN
The 5 th Biennial of Moving Image starts in exactly a year’s time. It opens on Saturday August 27th 2011 and runs until Sunday October 30th 2011. The countdown can begin.
Contour 2011 will again present an exciting mix of films, videos and installations by national and international artists in prominent locations in the centre of Mechelen.

‘Sound and Vision: Beyond Reason’: does the title of Contour 2011 sound familiar?
That’s possible. The curator Anthony Kiendl (CAN) was inspired by the David Bowie
song ‘Sound and Vision’.
With this title, Kiendl aims to examine the links between sound, image and social change. In this research, popular music plays an integral role.
Want to know what Bowie has to do with Peaches, what popular music has to do with sociocultural (r)evolution, architecture with the human body and the moving image with a lingering physical experience? All will be revealed during Contour 2011!
CONTOUR 2011 IS TAKING SHAPE
The curator has been extremely busy. Kiendl has earmarked locations in the heart of Mechelen which capture the imagination. The amazing Contour trail comprises (among other things) a historical chapel, a former convent and an old cinema.
Kiendl has also invited a number of famous artists from home and abroad to create an artwork on the theme of Contour 2011. For the time being at least, we are keeping the names top secret...
